Deleting Possible Spammer Accounts

09 August 2013 - 05:41 PM

We are deleting another large batch of accounts that seem to be spammer accounts. It is possible that there could be a few legitimate accounts mixed in. However, if you're currently active on the site, then your account is not in danger of being deleted!

The site upgrade over the past couple months has been a success, and we're now at a point where the forums are currently very clean, with no spam, and very few spammers are getting in.

If you do notice any spam in the forums, you can report it to the moderators by clicking the "report" link at the bottom of any post.

Thank you for your support. We now have almost 17,000 REAL members of PrayWay who have posted over 325,000 posts!

Email Validation Issues

27 June 2013 - 08:17 PM

Currently there is a problem with some new registrants receiving the validation email.

I'm going to go ahead and leave the registration open, since it is working for some email addresses. However, if you are trying to register and you don't receive a validation email, please try again later.

We are working on some server-level email settings.

Registration Open and New Spam Report Option

27 June 2013 - 05:08 PM

While there may still be some tweaks to the upgrade, we have finished most of it, and everything seems to be running well! Praise God :-)

We have now re-opened registration to new members.

I am optimistic that the new spam-prevention measures will prevent most spammers from registering. However, there will always be some who get through.

With that in mind, we would like your help in eliminating spam as quickly as possible.

If you see a spam post (or otherwise inappropriate content), you may click the "Report" link in the bottom right corner of the post. You can then give a reason why you're reporting it, and submit it to the moderators.

Thank you for your patience and for your help!

Deleting Blogs with 0 Posts and Externally Linked Blogs

27 June 2013 - 01:14 PM

As we continue with the upgrade of the site, we have re-enabled the community blog module, which allows members to have their own blog on PrayWay.

To clean things up, we have deleted all the old blogs that had been created but had 0 posts.

We have also removed the "externally linked blogs". This was a feature that allowed members to create a redirect link, which linked to their blog outside of PrayWay. In reviewing those links, I found that most of them were dead links anyway, and of those that were valid, most were not even prayer-related blogs.

You can still link to your external blog from your profile, or make a post about it in the Lounge.

Backup restored

18 January 2013 - 11:25 AM

We had to restore a backup of the site today, which resulted in the past 13 hours of activity on the site being erased (all posts, new members, etc.). Sorry about that! The good news is we're back up and running now.
