Posted by anguslass, 01 August 2010 · 11,061 views

O most holy apostle, St Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, people honour and invoke you universally as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. St Jude please assist me in these difficult circumstances. I beg you to shine a light on the resources that I need to help me find a suitable home for me and my family. Pray for me for I am helpless and alone. Please help to bring me visible and speedy assistance. Please come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly in my need for a new home and that I may praise God with you always. I promise, O blessed St Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour you as my special and powerful patron and to gratefully encourage devotion to you by publishing this request. Amen

Angus, I placed these scriptures here from the bible to show what God's revealed will is concerning who we are to pray to. In Mt. 6 Jesus said, when you pray, pray like this, Our Father...

1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1Ti 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Mat 12:46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Mat 12:47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
Mat 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Mat 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Papa, I lift up angus to your throne of grace, and ask you to open the eyes of his heart to the great love and mercy that you have bestowed on him. Open the word of life as he reads and bring revelation to him...fill him with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that he might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing; being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Colossians 1:9-12

Hello, Do you mean by this that I shouldn't be praying in this way? I have found great comfort from these prayers and have had my prayers answered. Please help me to understand what you mean as the St Jude's novena has been said by Catholics for many years but now I am wondering if this is wrong. Thank you, Heather

Angus, I am not heather, but I was the one who sent you the scriptures that revealed how we are to pray. Praying to St. Jude is not scriptural. It is a teaching that was brought into the Roman Catholic church. Definitely not something the early church ever did. Brother, be careful what you hear...don't take anybody's word about how you are to worship God. YOU GO and search the scriptures to see if what you are being told is true. If it is not, throw it away, it will only cause you to stumble. The Lord's prayer in Matthew reveals the way to pray according to the will of God, to the Father in Jesus' name. He is the One who supplies all we have need of according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. He is the One in Whom we trust. The life of a born again believer is not one of rituals, observing holy days, new moons, but a life of freedom allowing the Spirit of God within us to conform us to the image of Christ.
Philippians 4:19 supply all your needs
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Col 2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Col 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Col 2:18 Let no one defraud you by acting as an umpire and declaring you unworthy and disqualifying you for the prize, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions [he claims] he has seen, vainly puffed up by his sensuous notions and inflated by his unspiritual thoughts and fleshly conceit,
Col 2:19 And not holding fast to the Head, from Whom the entire body, supplied and knit together by means of its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
Col 2:20 If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? [Why do you submit to rules and regulations?--such as]
Col 2:21 Do not handle [this], Do not taste [that], Do not even touch [them],
Col 2:22 Referring to things all of which perish with being used. To do this is to follow human precepts and doctrines. [Isa. 29:13.]
Col 2:23 Such [practices] have indeed the outward appearance [that popularly passes] for wisdom, in promoting self-imposed rigor of devotion and delight in self-humiliation and severity of discipline of the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh (the lower nature). [Instead, they do not honor God but serve only to indulge the flesh.]
Seek God and HIS truth, and compare what you have believed with what God has revealed in His Word. Hosea 4:6 says that God's people perish for lack of knowledge because they reject knowledge, and Isa 5:13 Therefore My people go into captivity [to their enemies] without knowing it and because they have no knowledge [of God]. And their honorable men [their glory] are famished, and their common people are parched with thirst.
Search the scriptures for yourself, Angus. God loves you and wants to have a close, personal relationship with you. That was His desire from the beginning. Then the fall of man came, and sin entered in, and death through sin. Now that Jesus has poured out His blood to redeem us back to Papa, we can have that close, personal relationship with Papa ourselves, without having to go through anybody. Come boldly before the throne of grace, that you may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Papa wants to speak to YOU, and you speak to him without another person mediating for you, Angus. We can come before Papa, by the blood of Jesus, and talk to him ourselves. It's a wonderful, beautiful privilege of being able to know God and how He sees us. Heb 4:16 Let us have confidence, then, and approach God's throne, where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us just when we need it.
Seek Him and you will find Him. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. James 4:8
I speak blessings to you Angus. May God fill you with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

I thank you, St. Jude, for your intercession in my prayers for a new job. The joy of prayers truly being answered is beyond my capacity to articulate with words. I now am in need of a new home, and the search has been a struggle. I pray for your intercession in this quest, as I continue to search for a place I can proudly declare as my home, closer to my new job. I praise and thank God for the humility that has dawned on me during this transitional phase of "homelessness", and for the blessings of generous and compassionate friends who have assisted in housing me during this hard time.

In Jesus' holy name I pray. Amen.
